A Single Shard Book Review

A Single Shard - Linda Sue Park

A very short and simple audio book. Actually, a bit too short to really get into the story. As soon as I finally started enjoying the character and the plot it ended. One of the better Newberry books out there but still not a favorite.

Young Tree-ear is an orphan living in Korea. His master works in a pottery village. He works hard for his master and learns many things at the same time. He will do anything it takes to prove himself.

Tree-ear is such an odd name and I it took me forever to figure out that's what it was since I listened to this. An interesting coming of age novel that some elementary to middle school kids may enjoy. However, its a little too simplistic for my taste.
