Book Review

Love and Other Words - Christina Lauren

I love this author and I really enjoyed this book. Fair warning it's fairly heartbreaking. If you love Emily Griffin books, I think you'll love Christina Lauren, she really has a knack for writing characters that you'll fall in love with.

Hello, 2019!

Welcome 2019! I plan to post more on here this year! Thanks for all the new followers! What are some of your reading and non-reading goals this year?

Onyx Book Review

Onyx - Jennifer L. Armentrout

This was a quick re-read. You really start to feel where this series is going. It reminds me a lot of Roswell, the TV show and a mix of Twilight (better writing). There's a ton of sexual tension, drama and badass alien drama in this one. It's one of Armentrout's best books (and I've read just about all of them). I love the addition of the brother as I think it adds a lot to the story. Sibling relationships are always something I want more of and this book has some great Dee/Daemon moments. A plus all around.

Obsidian Book Review

Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is a re-read because I believe there is a new one coming in this series?

Obsidian is honestly my least favorite of the entire Lux series. And I LOVE this series but I don't really like this book? Its too much like twilight at first and Daemon is too obnoxious. Even the second time around. Still a fun read. And, I'd say if you felt like you didn't like this one then stick through it to see how you like the rest of the series, I think its worth it.

Girl Made of Stars Review

Girl Made of Stars - Ashley Herring Blake

This was okay. It only took me about an hour to read. I am of the very unpopular opinion for this book here because 95 percent of the reviews on here are 5 stars.

I'm not going to say much because it'll be getting a bit political if I do. I think this is one of those books that you have to read for yourself to see if you will like it. Most of my friends probably will. It does deal with some deep issues so make sure you have a full understanding of what this book is about before starting it.

Starry Eyes Book Review

Starry Eyes - Jenn Bennett

Super cute, fun and quick read. If you like adventure stories with that added teenage romance in it you'll love this one.

Batman Nightwalker Book Review

Batman: Nightwalker (DC Icons Series) - Marie Lu

I read this in under two hours and it wasn't bad or anything just not very memorable. I don't think I'll remember the plot in a year or even a few months.

Marie Lu is a good wrriter, I enjoyed her series but couldn't even finish Warcross-- it bored me. With Batman its just another YA about a teen who lost his parents meets a girl and falls in love with her. Just add Batman to the mix and its a DC series.

So fun, and a quick read but nothing special.

Realease Book Review

Release - Patrick Ness

I love The Chaos Walking series and Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. But I feel like, for me anyway, he's gone downhill from there. Including this book. I just haven't really liked them.

I liked Adam and the fact that he is a gay protagonist. But there is a weird fantasy plotline filled in that is completely separate. I couldn't figure it out. I'm sure it is supposed to be some metaphor. If someone understands what this book was about in the end I'd love an explanation.

It's not one I would really recommend its just too weird for my liking.

The Red Bandanna Book Review

The Red Bandanna: A life, A Choice, A Legacy - Tom Rinaldi

I believe this is the adult book but I couldn't find the children's version which is what I read. Same author just a shortened, simplified version.

This was really good. I do feel like I need to read the adult book now. But I would definitely recommend this to kids, it flows really well and doesn't feel like a nonfiction story. I definitely cried a bit reading this, especially since I'm old enough to remember 9/11. I was in 6th grade.

Its hard to believe many kids now don't know this day and I feel like this book does a good job putting the panic and fear that people, especially people in NYC went through on that day. Welles is a beautiful person and a hero that we should all know about. I personally had no idea about this man until reading this book

Love, Life and the List Book Review

Love, Life, and the List - Kasie West

Cute, fluffy but very predictable. I really enjoyed this. Its a typical YA fluff but I knew that going in. Its the whole best friend loves each other type story---but I am a total sucker for those. Kasie West seems to be hit or miss for me. I either love or hate her books. So I'm really happy that I enjoyed this one since I was definitely looking forward to it.

Truthers Book Review

Truthers (Fiction - Young Adult) - Geoffrey Girard

Two stars is being kind. Truthers has a good premise and I like the idea of the plot, a girl born after 9/11 is thrown into conspiracy theories and trying to figure out what happened. But I honestly can't see any high schooler or young adult actually enjoying this. The plot is weak, its a lot of facts about 9/11 thrown at you. I barely finished and got really bored.

I honestly skimmed a lot of it but feel like I didn't miss much. I'm not really into the whole conspiracy thing with 9/11 but even so this could have been done a lot better than it was.

Wicked Book Review

Wicked - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Half a star if anything off because the ending is a bit predictable. I think Armentrout wanted a shocking ending but I guessed it as soon as we knew the plot line. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this the first time and just as much the second time. Already started listening to book two. I highly recommend the audio books for these.

Lover Mine Book Review

Lover Mine - J.R. Ward

EH, I think there are just way too many books in this series. And I listen to these. 19 discs is LONG. Too long. I enjoyed John and Zhex. The rest, I kind of already forget? It just doesn't need to be as long as it is. As with pretty much this entire series.

Moonlight Sins Book Review

Moonlight Sins - Jennifer L. Armentrout

This was much more adult than Armentrouts other New Adult/Young Adult books. I still enjoyed it, but it has some pretty steamy scenes. I loved the first half and the mysterious Lucien and his family. But the last half felt a little flat to me, I wanted to know more about Julia and her past. I don't want to spoil it but the entire ending wasn't phenomenal and felt a tad rushed. That being said, I still really enjoyed it and found it to be a fast paced read.

Shattered by Helen Hardt

Shattered (Steel Brothers Saga) - Helen Hardt

Terrible.

Playing Patience Book Review

Playing Patience - Tabatha Vargo

Eh. Too many bad things happening to one character.
