I have to say, Fish in a Tree is quite genius and really everything I want in a children's chapter book. Morality, struggle, and a coming of age novel packed in one great story. Fun characters and extremely re-latable quirks makes this an easy one to recommend to all ages.
Young Ally has been fooling people for years. No one ever guessed she couldn't read. But when her teacher, Mr. Daniel's see's past her shyness and fear of being made fun of he declares that he will help her take charge of her Dyslexia.
Anyone that has ever struggled, been made fun of or really been in school will relate to many of these characters. It's a very touching an well written story. Linda Hunt clearly knows what she's writing and how to do it.
I haven't read Hunt's first novel, but after adoring this one I will absolutely be doing just that. What a fantastic author.
