Meh, feeling a little conflicted over this one. I really loved Jace in the first book. But in Fever he's quite frankly, an asshole. He gets angry over the smallest things and is about as bad as Christian Grey is in the controlling area. Major disappointment on his character.
Bethany has been living on the streets with her brother Jack for years. She's used to the cold nights and going hungry for days. But then Jace set his eyes on her. He know's he wants her at first site, without Ash added into the mix.
The writing needs work. It's always obvious in audio books when its not the best writing out there. The characters ramble a lot, and I found that they just said the same things over and over again while conflicting with themselves. A little annoying to listen to.
Bethany is your definition of a Mary Sue character. Someone for Jace to love and protect, take care of and dote upon. She seems to not mind living off him and not even bother trying to get a job - bugged me quite a bit.
And lastly, the sex. I had to skip most of it because porn is really not my thing - maybe reading it would have been differently. I had no trouble listening to Fifty Shades, but the sex scenes in this book was something couldn't stomach. We'll see if I get to the last one (not sure if I want my image of Ash ruined as well)
