Vanishing Girls Book Review

Vanishing Girls - Lauren Oliver

Ah, such conflicted feelings with Vanishing Girls. I love Lauren Oliver's Delerium series but that seems to be about it. Wasn't a fan of Panic and this one was just okay. I was ready to give it 2 stars for most of the book, but once it picked up in the end I really started liking it, especially since it started making sense on why Oliver wrote it the way she did.

Nick and Dara are twin sisters. Nick the goody two shoes and Dara the trouble maker. Then one day they get into a bad accident that Nick barely remember's. Ever since then, Dara has been ignoring her. Then young girls go missing, including Madeleine Snow. The search is on. When something happens to Dara, Nick can't help but think something similar has happened.

Sigh, most of this was boring. It's a great concept and idea but too much character involvement and the story barely keeps up. I despised the sister's most of the time and really didn't care for the relationship with Parker.

But Oliver can definitely write. She's so descriptive I can easily imagine the characters and the places. If only I wasn't so bored most of the time. But there is a twist at the end that I did not see coming, though others may be able to figure it out easily. So well done there.
