Kalahari Book Review

Kalahari - Jessica Khoury

What a fun and non-stop packed action book? I really was pleasantly surprised by Kalahari. I took it home from my library because the cover is so breathtaking. I had no idea it's technically a third in a series, but it is really read as a stand a lone. There wasn't anything I was confused about having not read the first two.

Sarah has loved living with her parents and the wild animals in Kalahari. But then they take on six city kids in order to make some money. Sarah doesn't do well with other kids her age much less this group. When her dad goes on a chase after paochers the group is left alone...ending up being along for longer than they expected. They must survive the Kalahari by themselves.

Sarah is a really great main character. She's tough and relentless to survive and find her family. I wasn't a fan of some of the other character's but I did like Sam and their romance together.

What I couldn't get across is the rather meek reasoning and background in the story. There is no way they would send a group of teenagers into the wild knowing there are a group of poachers in the area. But besides those little details this was a really fast paced story. I've already given it to my brother to read and I know he'll love it. I'm definitely going to be reading the first two of this series as well.
