To Kill a Mockingbird Book Review

To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee

As with just about everyone else I read this as a re-read for Harper Lee's new book. And for part of my classic challenge this year. I forgot just how much I loved this book. Scout is funny, relatable and a classic protagonist. As with the side characters. A funny, sweet, and charming coming of age story.

Scout, or Jean Louise is growing up in Maycomb, Alabama with her brother Jem and her father Atticus. She's learning new things about the people in her town and how everyone treats one another. Of course, the Radley house is the most terrifying thing for her and her brother. Then, when her father stands up in court for a black man people start treating them differently and Scout is witness to it all.

One of my favorite books of all time and for good reason. I really forgot just how funny this book is. I've already started reading Go Set a Watchman and am upset about one major detail, so we'll see how I end up liking it. Though, nothing will beat the original.
