By far my favorite of the Newberry awards so far. Which, I'm not surprised. Though, as much as I liked it I think I actually enjoy the movie more. It really stuck to the story line and brought the characters to life. Still, a really enjoyable read.
Stanley has always had bad luck, a big thanks to his family. So he's not surprised when the shoes come flying out of the sky and he gets arrested for stealing them then sent to camp to dig holes with a bunch of other convicts. Little does he know that the people at this camp will change his life.
What I like more about the movie, they make the characters more into a band of brothers in the end and I really missed that in the book. I have to say I really love Louis Sachar and will recommend his books to anyone.
