The Way We Fall Book Review

The Way We Fall - Megan Crewe

Overall, I really enjoyed this apocalyptic story. An epidemic taking over an island is pretty terrifying but something I can see happening, easily. The biggest drawback to this book is the way it is written. In letters to a boy we don't see the entire book. Because its written in letter format I feel like we lose a lot and so much more descriptions and various plot lines could have been added to make it much better.

Imagine living on an island stuck wit the same people and being terrified of getting sick. Its starts with a normal cold and coughing. But then there's the itching and the hallucination. The final outcome? Death. The only way to survive is to not get contaminated. Kaelyn writes to her best friend who is currently off the island telling him stories about what her and her family are going through. The panic, the spread, the fact that her father is the lead doctor in this case. Her greatest fear, that she will be the only one left in the end.

Kaelyn is a bit naive for me. She thinks the government will do whatever they can to help them. I have a feeling that she's up for a rude awakening in the next book. And talking about the ending, a bit predictable if only (again) because of the way this was written.

I am invested though and will listen to the sequel. As, I think we are finally going to get to see a certain character. Will definitely be recommending this one to those who love apocalyptic stories.
