I am one of those people fortunate enough to have grown up reading and waiting every year for a new HP book, from the time I was in third great to about the end of high school. I went to midnight screenings for the movies, went to the midnight opening for the final book and am a long time obsessive HP fan. So of course, I was excited to see an illustrated version of book one. And it is gorgeous.
Harry Potter has only known life with his evil Aunt and Uncle and his cousin Dudley. But when he turns eleven he receives a letter inviting him to Hogwarts School of Witch Craft and Wizardry. There he finds the best of friends, goes on the best of adventures. And soon realizes he's famous for stopping an evil wizard, Voldemort, who may not be dead like everyone thought.
Having been to wizardry world of Harry Potter and even a Harry Potter convention my standards were set very high for this book. I absolutely loved the illustrations. It has been several years since I have read this series again and the added pictures really do make it feel like you are reading a different book. They are so pretty and bring wonderful color to the characters we have loved over the years.
