2.5/5 Stars. I just can't get passed how obnoxious Harriet became in this story. I get it a classic coming of age story. But, she's spiteful and evil to her classmates even in the end. This is a book that could easily be shortened as the plot became repetitive after 100 pages.
Harriet likes to watch people and write things down in her notebook. They aren't the nicest things as she finds its easy to write how she really feels about her classmates and neighbors. But then the notebook gets stolen and her whole school has turned against her.
This is definitely a teachable book and I think that is why it remains to be a popular classic. But it got old, fast, for me. Maybe I would have enjoyed more if I had actually read it as a child. Will recommend it for children wanting that detective story.
