YA Fanatic

This was really enjoyable and a very fast paced reading. I loved that it was a similar road trip to what I did when I was younger with my family so I was really able to relate to that part of the story. There are some great characters throughout and the ending is bound to tear you up a little bit. 

Salamanca is being forced on a road trip with her family, her grandparents. Through the trip she tells the story of her friend Phoebe and the adventures they went through. All Sal wants is to be reunited with her lost mother. But the final destination might just break her heart. 

There is some deep themes throughout this book and its a great read a loud. I'm just not sure how many younger children will actually enjoy this book (I'm finding that to be common with these Newbery winners). 

I liked Phoebe, I liked the grandparents, I wasn't expecting the ending. Definitely one of the better winner's I have read.
