I really enjoyed this. The Unexpected Everything is my second Morgan Matson book. I listened to Since You've Been Gone but didn't really enjoy that story, it felt a little young for me. However, this one surprised me. I love that it's ideally a book about friendships, its really the perfect summer read.
Andie is a planner. She likes knowing what's going to happen and when. Her summer is planed for an intern and pre-med course at John's Hopkins. Except everything crashes. Her father's political career could be over and she's know stuck home for the first over the summer. Then she starts dog walking and then Clark appears. Maybe she can actually make this a good summer after all?
I really liked Andie. She's a very enjoyable character to read about. She's a hard worker, loves school but hates to read and when everything falls apart she tries to make the best of it. She also has some pretty great friends. The text messaging scenes were some of my favorites - as of course, with the scavenger hunt.
Not to mention the father/daughter relationship. I loved the building through it. I think we need more parents in young adult literature. I'm used to them dyeing or just not being in the story at all.
My one complaint would be that this felt a little long. It's over 400 pages and felt like it at times. Other than that I was happily surprised at how much I really did like this book.
