Tomorrow, When the War Began Book Review

Tomorrow, When the War Began - John Marsden

"Loyalty, courage, goodness. I wonder if they're human inventions too, or if they just are."

This is my third or fourth time re-reading this book. Though, its been many years. And I love it just as much as I did the first time around. Its ultimately a story about courage and friendship. And I adore each of the characters, especially the protagonists' voice.

Ellie and her friends decide to camp in hell. Way deep in the canyons near their home. A weekend with their school friends sounds perfect. Esepecially since boys are going with them. But when they return. Everything changes. Ellie, Corrie, Homer, Lee, Robyn and Fi arrive home to find everyone gone and the dogs dead. Their country is at war and they have to decide if they want to make a difference or not.

Homer was always my favorite character. The goofball that no one takes seriously but becomes one of the most loyal and reliable characters. Ellie does get a bit obnoxious but the story wouldn't be the same without her.

It's a book with a lot of passion that makes for great quotes like the one I used above. Just so much love for this book, I'm looking forward to read the rest of the series.
