I do feel like The Girl in the Blue Coat is a bit forgettable but overall I enjoyed it. Its a heart wrenching story of a girl trying to survive in a Nazi taken over part of Amsterdam.
Hanneke is feeling the grief of losing her boyfriend Bas. She remembers the day she met him and of course the last time she saw him. But now she has a mission. Find Mirjam a sole survivor in a Nazi attack on a Jewish family. Every day is more dangerous as the Nazi's take over more and more in Amsterdam, Hanneke and her friends must be careful if they want to survive.
I can see people going through similar situations during WWII and found it fairly realistic and emotional. I can't say I loved all of the twists it took in the end. This is a good historical fiction book to recommend to teens but its not my favorite out there.
