This was so good. I need to read more monsters taking over the world books. The best part about this book? It has a boy protagonist and a female protagonist and they don't fall in love! But still, their relationship DOES work.
Kate and August couldn't be so different yet so alike. Both are starting their first day at a new school. One wants to fit in one doesn't give a damn. They both have secrets to hide. Kate is the daughter of a well known wealthy man, August is part of the monsters one who can suck people's souls with a song.
I love the use of a violin in this book. So unique. Some could argue that there really isn't a whole lot of plot in this book, its a lot about the characters and not a ton of monster action as one might want. But V.E Schwab knows how to write (as usual). I love her style and how smoothly her words run together. I still need to read A Gathering of Shadows, and now can't wait to.
