Not impressed. I've been hearing about this book for a long time now, and finally got around to reading it. It didn't take me long, but I honestly skimmed through half of it, finding most of it unnecessary and rather annoying to read.
I get it, its based on a true story, about a girl who fell into the wrong crowd and began to use drugs. I suppose its supposed to be that of a resilience novel.
Told in diary form filled with mainly complaints and over dramatics about life and high school mixed with drug use and underage sex. Things escalate very quickly, some entries have no dates and therefore are randomly placed in the "diary" making it feel out of order and random.
In order to "enjoy" this, I think its something that a teenager has to relate to the subject matter and really understand it. I've never been exposed to drugs or over usage of alcohol and am rather naive on that whole side of life. Someone looking for a book to relate to that actually speaks to teens rather than dumbing it down will find this intriguing and possibly "helpful."
Side note: After writing this review I am now finding this actually isn't based on a true story. Which really makes the whole book even worse for me.
