Revolution 19 Book Review

Revolution 19 - Gregg Rosenblum

I tired to really enjoy this book, I really did. The plot idea is what interested me the most, but the rest fell flat. Revolution 19, a Dystopian, somewhat apocalyptic futuristic story about Robots taking over. Have you seen I, Robot? Imagine that but with teenage angst and a lot of stupidity.

Nick, Kevin and Cass are brothers and sisters and trying to survive in the woods with their parents as the bots have long ago taken over the cities. You know its not going to be a happy going adventure in the woods for long when they're attacked by the bots and sent scrambling losing their parents in the midst of it all. Their mission is now to find them. Are they even alive, taken into the city, re-generated? Its up to three young teenagers to find out.

It sounds intriguing doesn't it? That's about as intriguing as it gets unfortunately. The book switches side points for each of the siblings leaving very little character development and a lot of the storyline feeling unorganized, somewhat boring, and not very original. These kids do the dumbest things, which is the only reason there are any adventure and action scenes throughout.

I did enjoy that it was about brothers and sisters instead of your typical Dystopian romance triangle. In fact, that's why I wanted to read it. Its refreshing to read about family and protecting one another. I just wish the plot line and character development was stronger.
