Obsidian is pretty much Roswell meets Twilight. Chock full of Twilight similarities with the same amount of cheesiness and romance involved storyline.
That being said, I still enjoyed it. 17 year old Katy and her mom have just moved to Virginia from sunny Florida after her father died of cancer. She moves next door to twins, Dee and Daemon. Daemon is insufferable, rude, and quite a jerk, relentlessly trying to stop her from being friends with Dee. Trying to figure out why, Katy soon figures something is strange about the town and the twins. She soon finds out what....aliens.
Twilight similarities? Hot alien boy (instead of vampires) that Katy can't help but love, Daemon saves her from a car wreck as well as creepy men in the middle of the night leading Katy to find out what he really is. Special powers and a tinge of romance. Thank goodness there isn't a triangle romance.
Katy is a much more enjoyable character than Bella Swan. She's a blogger who reviews books (sounds similar to anyone we know on here) and is obsessed with reading and the internet. She doesn't like making too many friends and finds Daemon insufferable though its obvious how much she really wants to be with him.
Though it may lack originality in its plot line the romance, alien qualities and action scenes make up for it. An enjoyable, cheesy, fun book to read.
