Margaret Peterson Haddix was one of my favorite authors through middle school and most of high school. Now, as an adult, and a librarian, I still love her writing style. Her writing is simple, fun, and perfect all around for middle grade students.
Thirteen year old Jonah is adopted - he's always known he was. When he gets a letter stating, "You are one of the missing one," everything changes. His best friend Chip receives one too and finds out he's adopted. It turns into a mystery and one crazy adventure trying to figure out where their really from. Along with his younger sister the three meet other adopters, FBI agents, and some science fiction elements.
Haddix has written a book that has several elements throughout, mystery, science fiction, humor and adventure. I laughed, I wondered, and I fell in love with the characters and the story.
Audio Book Review: This is a really fun book to listen to. The reader was able to pull off the nativity and humor of middle school students. I'm certainly looking forward to listening to the next ones in the series.
