Four Book Review

Four: A Divergent Story Collection - Veronica Roth

This trilogy was excellent. I liked the ending and found it very fitting to the storyline. Most importantly, Veronica Roth gets the politics, the government and the fear of being taken over. Four just doesn't cut out compared to the others. It's boring, we learn nothing new, and its very repetitive. Definitely a little disappointing.

Years before Tris becomes a Dauntless, Tobias, known as Four does the same thing, just to get away from his abusive father. Told in four parts, Four shows us his life in Dauntless, how he becomes a leader, what it took for him to get through the initiations and ends with him meeting Tris.

Like I said, we learn nothing knew. We knew, even mostly from book one of Divergent, what Four's fears were, what his father did to him, who was in his initiation class, how he came to get the name Four, etc. All told in this new book. Hence, the factor boring comes in.

Even more importantly, we know how it all ends so there is really nothing to look forward to. Roth should have just stuck with the trilogy and planned something new. (I certainly hope she is). Four is totally unnecessary and doesn't help the characterization or plot.

Have you read this book of the series? What did you think of it?
